India’s Ace Tennis Player Sania Mirza Fined for Traffic Rules Violation
Traffic rules should apply to all irrespective of whether a person is a celebrity or not. This is what Hyderabad police proved today by imposing a fine of ₹ 200 on Sania Mirza – India’s ace tennis star!
Sania was recently crowned champion of Wimbledon doubles and has been for quite some time, the brand ambassador of Telengana.
Hyderabad vehicles are required to carry their number plates in a format specified by the government.
On Monday night, August 10, 2015, a traffic police in Hyderabad’s Jubliee Hills’ Road no. 10 noticed a white Toyota Fortuner was being driven with a number plate in incorrect format.
The inspector stopped the car, issued an e-challan and handed it over to the driver of the vehicle. No one else was in the car apart from the driver. The incident took place at around 8:07 PM.
The white Fortuner was bearing the number TS 09 EG 0001 in a format that was not in accordance with the traffic rules. The e-challan issued by the police had the serial number HYD08TC151000422.
‘At around 8:07 PM, the traffic personnel was scanning the cars in the posh area when he noted the car with a number plate that violated traffic rules,’ said Mr. Srinivas Reddy, traffic inspector of Jubliee Hills. ‘An e-challan was issue to the driver of the car’, he added.
It is reported that the white Fortuner was registered with Sania Mirza’s name on 18 June this year.
