The Indian railways are solely depended on the support of the government and our PM being completely reluctant about unveiling the steep passenger fare hikes, a huge number of common people have become more curious about the present railways budget. A 5-year modernization plan has been established by our PM Narendra Modi which estimates around $137 billion to boost the growth of economy within Asia. Indian Railways minister Suresh Prabhu has focused on taking care of the safety of passengers. And that is why; he needs to take a decision on imposing the safety cess to make sure the passengers are safe. Also, the decision of increasing the number of trains, special trains on higher fares on certain occasions shall be included within this railway budget for catering the growing demands of festive seasons. A lot of people are of the opinion that this is an indirect way of increasing fares. But some are also saying that, with the increase in the number of trains, it will be more convenient for the common people and daily passengers.

It is a fact that the Gross Budgetary Support (GBS) is really unlikely for meeting the expectations of railways. For the second consecutive year, there might be no announcement for new trains, but there shall be the launch of new services for catering the local demands and requirements. The budget is going to offer different schemes for attracting the loading and it is aimed at shifting goods from roads to rails.

In the new budget, there has been a scheme of premium high speed parcel trains. Also within the suburban section there shall be the introduction of AC suburban trains within Mumbai. And very soon this suburban AC train’s plan shall be implemented within other regions of India as well. But considering the high fare of such AC trains in the suburban location, a lot of people do not consider this as a feasible option. This is why; Suresh Prabhu is not yet very sure about the suburban AC trains.
The new budget also comprises the plan for a dual mode engine for trains. This is a unique feature of this year’s railway scheme and it has been appreciated by a huge number of people. The best part is, the dual engine mode shall help the train to run on both diesel and electricity. Considering the oil crisis in India and the fluctuating price of both diesel and electricity, the trains shall have the option of running in both the diesel and electricity according to convenience. The details of this project shall be offered by Suresh Prabhu very shortly. This year’s railway budget shall also observe the combined effort of the railways for cleaning the trains, making the trains environment friendly and ensuring the safety of passengers.
There are also plans for the installation of the bio toilets within the railway coaches. This is a plan that has been formatted keeping in mind the implementation of “Swacch Bharat Scheme”. There shall be both bio toilets and vacuum toilets and also dustbins shall be allotted for every coach. An action plans shall also be implemented for the maintenance of the railway tracks and the signaling system. A robust mechanism shall be implemented to make sure that any form of accidents and public inconvenience can be avoided due to the signaling system of railway tracks. The e-catering systems shall be alarmed for addressing the problem. India’s first bullet train has also been proposed that shall be on route from Mumbai to Ahmedabad.
