What is Super Tackle in Pro Kabaddi?
Pro Kabaddi League (or PKL) started in 2014 based on T20 cricket format. PKL is only in its infancy but has become quite popular. This is a good sign because this ancient game that originated in India almost faded away from the annals of history.
After successful completion of season 1, Pro Kabaddi League has entered in its second season and is widely advertised through television coverage and through other popular media mediums. So far, 39 matches have been played with 21 more to be played since one season comprises of 60 matches in total between 8 competing states.

The basic rules of Kabaddi are simple. One person from a team will enter the court of opponent team, try to touch or make body contact with one or more of the opponent team members and return to his own court without being caught. This is known as raid. The opponent team, also known as the defending team on the other hand will have to capture the other team member and prevent him from getting back into his court. This is known as tackle or catch.
PKL is based on this basic principal of Kabaddi with some modified rules that are specific to PKL and not found in any other variation of Kabaddi. In Pro Kabaddi we have something called Super Raid and Super Tackle.
Super Tackle is sometimes referred to as Super Catch. Super Tackle in Pro Kabaddi is a specific scenario where a raider from the opponent team has to be tackled or captured or caught by either 3 or less than 3 players of the non-raiding or defending team.
Usually it is very difficult for three or less people to tackle a raider who is in full momentum and if the raider is strong enough, it can be a real challenged to stop him from returning to his own court. There are times when even 6 players fail to contain a raider who is not only strong but displays good acrobatic skills and common sense.
A plain tackle in Pro Kabaddi earns the defending team 1 point but a Super Tackle will earn 2 points. This extra 1-point bonus in PKL is known as Super Catch point or Super Tackle point.
Super tackle is not really a common occurrence when there are more than three players of the defending team present in the court as all defenders will come forward to ensure that the raider is put out. This makes Super Tackle far more common in situations where only three or less than three players of defending team are in court
