What is the working plan to implement the project in Chhattisgarh?
The Prime Minister has promised to execute the project and deliver it completely by the end of 2022. That year is a significant year in the Indian history as India will celebrate its 75th year of independence in 2022. Under this scheme a total of 5 crore beneficiaries will be provided low cost housing facility which they can get in easy installments and very nominal interest rates. The Prime Minister has aimed this project especially for those who are not financially capable to build their own houses. This is by far the biggest housing project done in the state of Chhattisgarh so far.
Who will get most benefited by this Prime Minister housing scheme?
This housing scheme is launched by Modi to benefit all masses of Chhattisgarh where they will get low cost houses easily and will have easy finance options. But the Prime Minister has stressed on getting more work done for the rural people and backward masses. The major portion of population in Chhattisgarh lives in villages and tribal areas. They do not have the financial capability or financial assistance to get housing arrangements done by their own. So out of the 5 crore housing units under this housing project, 3 crore units will be dedicated to the villages and rural areas. The rest 2 crore units will be given to families living in the urban areas.
Grants received by the beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana
The housing units which will be developed under the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana will constitute grants from both the central govt. and the state govt. But the grants or the subsidized rates are applicable only for the people of weaker sections, below poverty line and the tribes. As per the plan, a total of Rs. 3 lakh subsidy will be granted per housing unit for the families who are economically backward. Out of this, Rs. 1.5 lakh will be borne by the state govt. itself and the rest Rs. 1.5 lakh by the central govt.
Other facilities under this scheme
The interest rate under this scheme is kept very nominal at the rate of 6.5 % for those who belong to low income categories. The state govt. has also decided to waive off the stamp duty for this housing project and will allocate land at very low rate.
