Good news for people involved in import/export sector of Indian economy. A new program for online certificate known as NiryatBandhu@Your Desktop has been launched under DGFT, Department of Commerce’s NiryatBandhu Scheme. This new program was launched today (9th September 2015) by MCI’s Commerce Secretary.
Several important personalities were present during the inauguration. Here is a quick list of people who were present during the launch:
- Commerce Secretary (from Ministry of Commerce & Industry) – Launched the Programme.
- Shri R.R. Rashmi – DGFT’s Additional Secretary.
- Shri AnupWadhawan – Foreign Trade’s Director General from DGFT.
- Shri D.K. Singh – Foreign Trade’s Additional Director General from DGFT.
Apart from them, several other dignitaries were also present from DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade) and Commerce Department.
The NiryatBandhu Scheme was launched with one objective –‘bringing new Indian who are getting into export market and put them through several counselling session, mentoring, orientation programs etc.’ The whole idea behind this exercise is make sure that they are ready for international exports which can in turn, translate into a boost in overall Indian exports.
In fiscal year 2014-2015, over 18K Indians (potential and new exporters) were put through orientation program. In coming years, the Commerce Department, as 2015-20 Foreign Trade Policy, is aiming for further stimulation of the NiryatBandhu Scheme and using it as an aid towards achieving Skill India Program’s objectives.
Because of the aforementioned aspirations, DGFT has combined hands with IIFT (Indian Institute of Foreign Trade). The NiryatBandhu@Your Desktop is an outcome of this collaboration. It is essentially an online program under which aspiring individuals can use the online platform for learning import/export essentials directly from their homes. The NiryatBandhu@Your Desktop will offer live lessons that will be streamed directly to the desktop. After every session, a QA session will allow users to ask questions directly to IIFT experts. The online platform will thereby help Indian individuals to acquire skills which is actually the objective of Skill India. On the other hand, the online platform is in tune with the Digital India Drive. Users will also have access to an online library of resources that they can use for their study.
