This is not a place for writing cricket stuff but being a big fan of this game I am a little bit shocked. MDS has retired from test cricket from immediate effect. This has come as a surprise for lot of cricket fans. I am still to absorb this news. I have read this in different sites to confirm.
Nobody still knows the reason for MSD’s retirement so soon. He has hinted in his last test series in 2011 that he will retire from test cricket in a year. It was a time his team had lost 8 consecutive test matches onshore. 0-4 in England and then 0-4 in Australia.
He was in radar by a lot of cricket expert for his defensive approach in test cricket and has lead many loses in the past. Virat Kohli lead Indian side in the first teat match of the four match series and was praised by a lot of people including Australian media and opposite captain Micheal Clark.
He has just retired from test cricket and would be available for ODI and T20 as a captain. His record in ODI and T20 has been fantastic. He has won the world cup as captain in both the format. India under MSD has won 1st T20 world cup in 2007 and then ODI world cup in 2011. MSD’s last winning shot in finals of 2011 world cup will always be remembered by the entire country.
He has played test matches for 9 years. In this journey he has broken several records. He has played total 90 test matches and has captained 60 of them. MSD took over the captaincy from Anil Kumble. He is the most successful Indian test captain till date.
