List of Most International Cricket Centuries
Every cricket fan of the world knows two greatest achievements by 2 cricket icons. Sir Don Bradman had a life time average of 99.94 and 100 international centuries scored by Sachin Tendulkar. These 2 are a sort of un touchable records. This can be proved by the fact that the second person in the list is way way behind.
To prove my points please find the list of 50 Cricketers with most international centuries.
|11||AB de Villiers||41||278*|
|33||PA de Silva||31||267|
As you can clearly see that Sachin stands in the Numero Uno position but the second person a very famous name and one of the all time greatest is Ricky Ponting he had scored 71 international centuries. Now Sachin have scored 41% more centuries then his second best.
Sachin have scored 51 test centuries and 49 ODI centuries. You just cannot compare the two players but can pin point a unique record. This record of scoring 100 international centuries is a big one and no one can even think of achieving this.
It took more than 24 years for Sachin to make up this record. I still remember the day when Sachin was reading his retirement speech. All Indian eyes were moist. Such is the impact of Sachin in India. He holds a god like status.
The only people who we can think of coming close as per the current list are Hasim Amla AD de Villiers and Virat Kohli. But they need to play consistent cricket for more than 10 years to achieve this. Which is not possible?
Note :- Sir Don Bradman just needed to score 4 runs in his last innings to achieve career average of 100 but he was out on 0 on the second ball faced. He had scored runs throughout his life but failed in his last innings. This shows the pressure a player has to carry his reputation.
