Rising Pune Supergiants IPL 10 Pune Squad 2017
Pune is having a brand new team that will feature in the 9th edition of the star studded cricket league, Indian Premier League. In a recent unveiling ceremony of team’s new name and jersey, the Pune team was named Rising Pune Supergiants. The name was given after an online opinion poll held last year. In the past, IPL had another Pune team named Sahara Pune Warriors, which was dissolved after three years in 2013. After that for two seasons, there was no team from Pune.
The rise of the Pune team – Rising Pune Supergiants
Last year, the Supreme Court had passed an order of suspension of the Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals because the owners were found guilty of match betting. So the new Pune team and the Rajkot team emerged. An IPL draft was held in the month of November, 2015 in which the players who used to play for the suspended teams of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were open for sell to these two new teams. They were asked by the IPL committee to pick up five players each in that draft.
Rising Pune Supergiants’ choice of captain for IPL 9
MS Dhoni was the obvious choice as he is one of the most successful T20 captains of India and in IPL also. Under his captaincy only, India won the 1st edition of the T20 World Cup. He led the Chennai team for two wins in the 2010 and 1011 IPLs respectively. Under his leadership, CSK also won two Champions League T20 trophies in 2010 and 2014. He has been one of the greatest players in the short form of the game. His helicopter shot is his knight in shining armor.

The last time Pune IPL team named Sahara Pune Warriors played in their home was in the year 2013. At that time, the home stadium of Pune was known as Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium. After many differences between the Pune owners- Sahara and BCCI, the Pune team was dissolved and for two years there was no team representing Pune. They are keen to have a correct combination of bowlers, batsmen, fielders and match winners. They are not only focusing on youngsters with a lot of promise and ability but also will bank on the experience of senior players.
