ICC T20 World Cup 2016 Venues Schedule Fixtures and Teams
The next edition of the ICC T20 World Cup will take place in 2016 and the host nation is none other than India. India is the 1st country to win the ICC T20 World Cup. This time, the T20 world championship will be played in the home grounds of India and cricket playing nations from all around the world will fight to hold the beautiful world cup trophy. The stage is set, the teams are ready and the venues are fixed to play the biggest tournament of the shortest version of the game. Both men’s World Cup T20 tournament and women’s World Cup T20 tournament will be held one after another.
About ICC T20 World Cup
Similarly like World Cup tournament of 50 over format, the ICC World Cup T20 is the world championship for the shortest form of cricket i.e. for Twenty 20 matches. Cricketing nations all around the globe will compete against one another to win the world cup. It is administered and monitored by the regulatory board for cricket i.e. the International Cricket Council (ICC). The first version of World Cup T20 was held in the year 2007. India was the champion in the first T20 World Cup, defeating Pakistan. It was held in South Africa. After that, five teams have won the trophy, once each. The last winner is Sri Lanka in 2014.
2016 World Cup T20 Tournament first group stage layout
The ICC T20 World Cup 2016 will kick start on 8th March, 2016 and will end on 3rd April, 2016. The tournament will be divided into two stages. In the first stage, there are 8 teams – Bangladesh, Oman, Ireland, Hong Kong, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, Scotland, Netherlands and Ireland. These eight teams will be divided into two groups consisting four teams in each group. Group A has four teams – Oman, Netherlands, Bangladesh and Ireland. Group B has four teams – Afghanistan, Scotland, Hong Kong and Zimbabwe. There will one winner each, Q1A and Q1B, from each stage that will fight against the bigger teams in the Super 10 stage.

ICC T20 World Cup 2016 Schedule for first group stage to decide Q1A and Q1B
The first match will be played between the teams of Hong Kong and Zimbabwe on the opening day i.e. 8th March, 2016 in Nagpur. They belong to Group B. The same day, in the evening, another match between two remaining teams of Group B i.e. Scotland and Afghanistan will also play a match. Similarly, from Group B, the same combinations of matches will be played. Winner of Group A will be regarded as Q1A and that of Group B as Q2B.
Match Venues for the first group stages of the ICC T20 World Cup 2016
There are two venues selected in which all the matches of the first group stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2016 will be played to decide the Q1A and Q1B teams. They are Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur and Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamshala. The Nagpur stadium has a seating capacity of around 45,000 which will hold the Group B matches. And the Dharamshala stadium has a seating capacity of 23,000 and will hold the Group A matches. These stadiums with world class facilities are selected for playing the world cup matches are selected by the method of lottery.

2016 World Cup T20 Super 10 stage layout
From 15th March onward, the Super 10 stage will start featuring the top ten teams, including the two teams from the first stage – Q1A and Q1B. These 10 teams are divided into two groups – Group 1 and Group 2, each consisting 5 teams. The countries playing in the Group 1 of the Super 10 stage are South Africa, England, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Q1B. And the countries in the Group 2 are India, Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand and Q1A. In both groups, each country will play four matches, each against another group member. Two teams with the highest points from each group will qualify for the Semifinal stage and remaining will be knocked out.

Super 10 stage match schedules along with venues
There will be 20 matches played all total in the Super 10 stage, after 12 matches in the First stage. India of Group 2 will play the first match of the Super 10 stage on 15th March, 2016 against New Zealand. This will be the Match no. 13 of the T20 World Cup and will be played in V. C. A. Stadium, Nagpur. The Super 10 stage will continue till 28th March, 2016 and the competition will be between South Africa and Sri Lanka. This will be the 32th match of the tournament to be held in Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium.

Knock out Stage Semifinals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2016
After the Super 10 stage, there will be two teams each from Group 1 and Group 2 that will qualify for the semifinals, which will be knock out type matches. That means team loosing will be eliminated from the tournament. The first semifinal will be played on 30th March, 2016 between the Qualifier 2 of Group 1 and Qualifier 1 of Group 2, in the Super 10 stage. The first semifinal match is scheduled to be played at the Feroz Shah Kotla Ground, Delhi. The second semifinal will be played between the Qualifier 1 of Group 1 and Qualifier 2 of the Group 2, in the Super 10 stage. This match will be played on 31st March, 2016 and the match venue is Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
Final match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2016
After the play of semifinal round, winners of each semifinal match will reach the final and will be in the competition to win the ultimate battle and lift the ICC T20 World Cup 2016 trophy. The final match is scheduled to be played on 3rd April, 2016 at the prestigious Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
