If you have lost or damaged your existing PAN card then you will need to get it reissued. The new PAN card will bear the same PAN number and is normally termed as duplicate PAN card. You do not need to apply for a fresh card with the fresh number. In fact, applying for another card with a different number is a legal/criminal offence punishable by law. Here are the steps to apply for PAN card reissued in case of damage or loss.
You can apply for a duplicate PAN card online
First visit the webpage https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pan/ to apply for the duplicate PAN card. There are many options on this page but you will need to select the button labeled “Reprint of PAN card.”
Clicking on this button will open the new page in a different window with the following options:
- Online Application for Changes Or Correction in PAN Data (PAN Change Request Form)
- Do’s and Don’ts for PAN Change Request Application
- Important Instructions and Guidelines at a glance
Click on the first option for applying Duplicate Pan Card
Click on “Online Application for Changes Or Correction in PAN Data (PAN Change Request Form)” in the next step. It will open a new page titled as “Guidelines for filling PAN change request application/Reprint of PAN card.”
On this page, you will also find the detailed instructions to fill the online application form. This page also has detailed information about the payment options.
Note: Go through the details carefully to make sure that there are no hassles in getting the duplicate PAN card. Incorrect information may cause inconvenience as you may have to resubmit the form.

Select the type of application for Duplicate PAN Card
At the bottom of the page, you will be required to select the type of application from the drop down menu. Some of the options include:
- Body of Individual
- Hindu Undivided family
- Association of Persons
There are more options. Choose the one according to your type of application.
After choosing the type, click on the “Select” button right next to the dropdown menu. It will open the form.
How to fill the form for applying Duplicate PAN Card
The fields in the form are self explanatory and you will be able to fill them easily. If you need any help filling the form, you can read the detailed instructions on the last page. There are a set of Do’s and Don’ts as well that can be read at https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pan/cr-do-donts.html.
Do not select any check boxes on the left side of the form while applying for a duplicate PAN card except for the ones that are selected by default.
“Date of Birth” and “Address of Communication” are the only two fields whose corresponding check boxes are checked by default.
Select the payment option for Applying Duplicate PAN Card
Select the appropriate payment option depending upon your preferences. The following four options are available:
- Demand Draft
- Cheque Payment
- Credit Card/Debit Card
- Net Banking
For online banking either select Credit Card/Debit card option or Net Banking.
Once you have filled the form and selected the payment option, click on the “Submit” button at the bottom of the page.
If you chose the online payment option, you will be directed to the online payment gateway where you can enter the payment details.
