Delhi Residents Get Access to Online Property Registration Soon
Delhi government has announced its upcoming online service that will allow the residents of Delhi to register property online. This one of a kind service will be soon launched by the government’s Revenue Department. The service will not only allow people to register property online in Delhi but will also provide other facilities like power of attorney and rent agreement.
In fact, this service has already entered a trial run to understand its efficacy and shortcomings. The government hopes to make it live as a full-time service in next 2 to 3 months once the software is market-ready and all known bugs have been eliminated.
“This proprietary software currently under development and testing will allow Delhiites to register property online in Delhi,” says Divisional Commissioner, Ashwani Kumar. “People can access this service by visiting the website of the department where other services like power of attorney, rent agreement and other documentation will also be available,” he added.
According to Ashwani, buyers will be allowed to make online payments for registration fee and stamp duty either from their office or from home. He further said that anyone with a digital signature will be able to ditch a physical visit to sub-registrar office once the service is publicly launched.
“This service will allow buyers to fill a form directly on the website of the department. Submission of sellers’ details and sales deed printouts will also be allowed,” Kumar added.
According to department officials, no other state in India currently offers any such service for its residents and that Delhi Government will be the first one to offer such online service. However, the government will continue to offer the traditional method of a physical visit to the office of the registrar so that tech-ignorant people do not find it hard to access those services.
