Booking tickets in Indian Railways have become much easier than ever and all we could see ahead is better facilities coming up for the ultra-modern tech savvy customers. A bigger section of the society these days is relying completely on internet and technology for booking and cancellations and gone are the days when people had to spend hours in queue to book a single ticket. On the same lines, things have become so easier that you can even change your boarding station in an e-ticket.
There are times when you have to book a ticket from some other boarding point due to unavailability of tickets from a desired station. In such situation, you would like to change the boarding point later and this is how you can do it.
To get this facility, all you need to do is get in touch with the nearest station with your ‘Electronic Reservation Slip’ print out and one of your photo identity proof, at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure of the train from source station. Make sure that you are carrying the photo ID proof of at least one person on whose name(s) the ticket has been booked.
Å The reservation offices are the right place to change ‘Boarding Station’ and ‘Passenger Name’ against an application that would be made by at least one of the passengers.
Å You can opt for any boarding station which is in the route to your destination station…
Å If you have an internet booked ticket, you can get this facility from any of the Reservation Counters, irrespective of the source or boarding station.
Last but not the least, there is no prescribed format under which you need to apply for the change of boarding point. You may use your own format, but ensure that you provide all relevant and valid information in the application.
