BSNL BROADBAND Will Double Fair Usage Policy (FUP) Speed from 1 August
BSNL has planned that they would increase their Fair Usage Policy speed across India. The current FUP speed for BSNL broadband is 512 Kbps and it would be increased to 1 Mbps which means BSNL will double the FUP speed. The current speed of 512 Kbps is very slow and thus this move by BSNL is a welcome move for broadband users across India. BSNL will increase the FUP speed from 1 August, 2016. All BSNL subscribers will be able to enjoy this service whether they are new subscribers or existing subscribers.
Meaning of BSNL FUP
FUP means Fair Usage Policy. Nearly all the telecom operators in India provides dual speed unlimited plans for their subscribers. The subscribers are always able to enjoy a limited amount of data at high-speed and after that the subscribers become unable to enjoy the high-speed internet. After the limit is crossed, the subscribers are obliged to use internet at a much lower speed. This is known as the FUP or Fair Usage Policy.
Importance of BSNL FUP
- FUP prevents abuse of bandwidth by limiting the high-speed usage of internet by heavy downloaders on a shared connection.
- FUP protects the internet usage of the customers by limiting their high-speed usage.
- FUP is very important for all the broadband users as it aims to provide all of them optimum value in terms of speed and reliability.
Reason of Hating BSNL FUP
Actually FUP is very important for all broadband subscribers but the telecom operators has managed to transform it into something evil for the common people. The telecom operators are always in search of making more money and thus they promote their subscription plans with pre-FUP speed mentioned.
The operators usually don’t want to provide huge volume of data to the customers and thus when a customer buys the subscription plans and starts streaming videos, they start hating FUP because of limited speed after using a limited amount of data.
But it helps the operators as they are easily able to justify their pricing of internet and attract the customers by offering high speed internet.
But it is often seen that the users incline to consume less multimedia content due to the fear that their speed would be downgraded. Thus the subscribers are forced to use the internet within their limited high-speed data and these procedures force them to hate FUP.
Amazing Steps of BSNL
BSNL has learnt from the feedbacks of their users unlike other operators. While the other telecom operators are too busy to count their profits, BSNL has shown great care for their customers. BSNL will increase the FUP speed to 1 Mbps from 1 August, 2016 and it is also in line with TRAI’s commendation of minimum 2 Mbps speed by 2015. BSNL also increased their broadband speed in India to minimum 2 Mbps in India the previous year and all these steps prove that BSNL cares for their customers.
Below we will provide a summary of BSNL’s plan of increasing FUP.
|Telecom Operator Name||BSNL|
|Current FUP||512 Kbps|
|Proposed FUP||1 Mbps|
|Date of Activation of Proposed FUP||1 August, 2016|
|Eligible Users||New and Existing Users of BSNL|
The step taken by BSNL is indeed a glorious step and it will help the customers of BSNL and thus will decrease their hate towards FUP. This step will also ensure BSNL has more subscribers. Currently, BSNL has 9.91 million subscribers in India.
