Best Broadband Plans in Mumbai Under Rupees 1000
There is literally no way to say which broadband is the best in Mumbai. Why so? There are several service providers and they all claim to be best but at the end of they, each and every user comes up with some grievance against the provider they use. However, it is unanimously accepted now that MTNL is the worst of the lot though it used to be one of the best in industry! What happened to it? We cannot say that. No one can! Only the Gods of MTNL know what gives them the tickle to provide a really pathetic service.
So, in this article though we will try to find out the best broadband in Mumbai, we will keep our comparisons rather limited to price, speed and FUP. We will simply ignore down times, poor customer service, etc. because no one is perfect and almost everyone has multiple flaws. Which one is the worst actually depends on your personal experience. So report good and others report terrible.
We will primarily focus on price comparison for 2Mbps bandwidth under INR 1000 per month.
Up to 2 Mbps Bandwidth: Providers and price comparison.
|Service provider||Plan Name||Price||FUP and comments|
|MTNL||Lite 250||INR 250 per month||
|MTNL Home Wi-Fi 350||INR 350 per month||
|Tikona||ADBBM1M450||INR 450 per month||1 Mbps for first 10 GB and then 512 Kbps for unlimited usage.|
|ADBBM2M500||INR 500 per month||2 Mbps for first 12.5 GB and then 512 Kbps for unlimited usage.|
|Tata Docomo||Power 1 Mbps 599||INR 599 per month||1 Mbps for first 10 GB and then 512 Kbps for unlimited usage.|
|MTNL||Xpress 550 Non-Combo||INR 600 per month||2 Mbps for first 8 GB and then 1 Mbps for unlimited usage.|
|Tata Docomo||Power 2 Mbps 699||INR 699 per month||2 Mbps for first 10 GB and then 512 Kbps for unlimited usage.|
|Tikona||ADBBM2M700||INR 700 per month||2 Mbps for first 25 GB and then 512 Kbps for unlimited usage.|
|MTNL||Xpress 650||INR 750 per month (price was 650 till 31st March 2015)||
|Xpress 699||INR 749 per month (price was 699 till 31stMarch 2015)||
|Tata Docomo||Power 1 Mbps 799||INR 799 per month||1 Mbps for first 20 GB and then 512 Kbps for unlimited usage.|
|MTNL||Xpress 850||INR 949 per month (price was 85o till 31st March, 2015)||
|Tata Docomo||Power 2 Mbps 999||INR 999 per month||2 Mbps for first 20 GB and then 512 Kbps for unlimited usage.|
Based on the above price table, Xpress 850 plan of MTNL is the best because it allows unlimited use at 1Mbps speed after FUP quota of 30GB. Topping that, there are free night calls on a free phone. Youngsters are going to like this. 1 Mbps is a fairly good speed for home users who run 2 computers at the most.
There are many other plans and many other service providers who offer higher speeds and higher FUP quota but also charge higher price. We will not consider them in this article because that will make this article painfully long and eventually, extremely confusing.
In case we try to consider downtimes and customer service, Tikona is fairly good with this except for rainy and cloudy days when you may end up cry out blood but you will fail to get signals. Tata Docomo is known for its notoriously frequent downtimes. MTNL is no different. Recently the provider has earned a very bad reputation of frequent outages (at least 2-3 times a day) which then get fixed on its own within an hour or two. Essentially, you may find yourself on the losing end while doing some important online work using MTNL broadband.
Speak of the customer service, Tikona and Docomo rank fairly well in their attitude but when it comes to MTNL, we have two words for you, ‘Good Luck’! They are known for their bad attitude and sluggish nature. They will happily frustrate you to the point of madness.
Setting aside all these issues, we will vote the top 5 in following order:
- MTNL Xpress 850.
- MTNL Xpress 699.
- MTNL Xpress 650.
- Tikona ADBBM2M700.
- Tata Docomo Power 2 Mbps 999.
You know what? Mumbai really needs a service provider like Kolkata-based Alliance Broadband Services. They are plain awesome!
