Anushka Sharma signed opposite Salman Khan for Sultan
Yash Raj Films have confirmed the pairing of Bollywood beauty Anushka Sharma with Salman Khan for his next biggie Sultan. There was much air regarding the cast of leading female’s role in the movie. But finally the rumors ended and Anushka was confirmed the role. Sultan is one of the most talked about and awaited Bollywood movie of 2016 under the Yash Raj banner. It is being co-produced by Salman Khan, with his own production house – Salman Khan Films and Aditya Chopra of Yash Raj Films. It will be directed by Ali Abbas Zafar.
Sultan is a Bollywood movie where Salman Khan will play the role of Sultan Singh, a wrestler from Haryana. Sultan also stars Randeep Hooda who will play the role of wrestling coach of Salman Khan. Rumors were there that the role of the wrestling coach will be played by Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone. But the executive producer of the movie, Raja Mukherjee has cleared the air and confirmed that Stallon will not feature in the movie. After that, reports were also there that actor Sanjay Dutt will be cast for the role of the coach as the Director Kabir Khan was interested in casting him. But because of Dutt’s non availability, as he is serving imprisonment, Randeep Hooda was assigned the coach’s role. Other prominent actors are Amit Sadh who will play the role of young Sultan Singh. Amit Sadh was last seen in the movie Kai Po Che. Another star of this wrestling movie is famous Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Tyron Woodley, who will be seen fighting against Salman in this movie. The role of the leading lady was not being fixed for a long time and there were several rumors about that. But all the rumors ended as Yash Raj Films made the announcement of assigning Anushka Sharma in the leading female role.
Anushka Sharma was last seen in Ranveer Singh – Priyanka Chopra – Farhan Akhtar – Anil Kapoor starter Dil Dharakne Do, directed by Zoya Akhtar. 2015 was an average year for Anushka as she had only three movies, other two are NH 10 and Bombay Velvet. While NH 10 got critically acclaimed by reviewers, Bombay Velvet became one of the biggest disappointments of 2015.
Sultan will get released on the festive season of Eid in the next year. It is expected to do great business at the box office as Salman Khan has delivered back to back nine hit movies so far. Salman’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, both became top grosser of 2015 at the box office. Ek Tha Tiger was their last project of Salman Khan and Yash Raj Films together, which was the biggest Bollywood blockbuster of 2012 and broke all previous records. It was directed by Kabir Khan. According to box office experts, Sultan will surely taste great success in box offices of both India and overseas. However, Sultan is expected to have tough competition at the box office as it will be pitched against Raees, starring Shah Rukh Khan.
