Andhra Pradesh Government to issue Smart Cards to Laborers in Unorganized Sector
The benefits of any scheme should reach the poor and those below poverty line. This is the message of the Government of Andhra Pradesh, which would be issuing Smart Cards to Laborers working in unorganized sector under the Insurance Scheme.
As per the government notification issued on the International Worker’s Day this year, the registration process for these smart cards would start sooner. There are a number of national and international labor welfare schemes and through these smart cards, government can ensure that the aid and benefits reaches the actual deserving population.
Through this Smart Card, labors working in unorganized sector would be able to reap benefits of various union as well as state promoted labor welfare programs. For making the registration process simpler, convenient and time saving, the government would deploy e-Seva services for the registration of laborers for Smart Cards.
These Smart Cards would come with basic information of the laborers and would be connected with Aadhar Number and respective bank accounts of the workers. It is nothing but a step ahead by the government of the state to connect workers and laborers with the mainstream economy and governance. The government aims to enroll more than a crore of workers employed in unorganized sector under the scheme.
Through these smart cards, the workers also be covered under prestigious Pradhan Mantri Bima Yojana, which was recently started by the central government. Under this insurance scheme, each laborer working in unorganized sector would get an insurance benefit of Rs 2 lakh in case of accidental death.
The bank account of these laborers would be opened under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, if not yet opened.
In all, seeing it from a national perspective, we can very well imagine that a lot of restructuring has already become at both central and state levels as far as the weaker section of population is concerned. The implementation of various welfare schemes recently started and being implemented would act as a testimonial for this overall development.
