Airtel Zero Plan a killer of Net Neutrality
Airtel Zero Plan is the term that is in news these days. As per the news channel Airtel is working on Airtel Zero Plan for its users who are not using internet on the phone. As consumers this sounds good news.
Airtel Zero Plan states that’s Airtel users can use some of the famous sites and apps at free of cost. The cost of accessing these sites would be borne by the sites themselves. Since my childhood I have been told that there is no free coffee in this cruel world so how come this thing could happen?
Well the straight forward answer to this complex question in Monopoly of business. Since you do not have to pay to use your internet on phone you cannot access the other sites which may be giving better result of your needs. This in turn will make you buy the products from the established sites thus killing the new Start Ups.
This concept of giving free internet for preferred sites is against the Net Neutrality concept. Flipkart was added in the Airtel Zero Plan and had be disassociate itself from it after a lot of people against this concept deleted Flipkart App from there play store.
TRAI has been flooded with emails for against this concept and wants Internet free from any preferences. As a consumer you have to understand that on the name of free internet these giants will virtually make you dependent on them and make you shell out more money. The biggest loser in these kind of schemes would be start ups and small unbiased reviewers and most importantly you who have fallen into the prey of these free lollipops.
I have understood these and want my readers to comment their views on Net Neutrality and this Airtel Zero Plan. As a healthy discussion would make your system strong and logical.
